Alberta Prosperity Project Delegation Secures Renewed U.S. Backing for Sovereignty in High-Level Washington, D.C. Talks
Edmonton, Alberta – October 1, 2025 – The Alberta Prosperity Project (APP) today announced the successful completion of its second strategic visit to Washington, D.C., where the Alberta Prosperity Delegation met with senior Trump administration officials to advance Alberta’s path toward full independence. Building on the groundbreaking April discussions that drew explicit U.S. support for Alberta’s sovereignty, this follow-up engagement, held over the weekend in Washington, D.C., yielded even stronger commitments, underscoring the growing international recognition of Alberta’s right to self-determination amid ongoing federal overreach from Ottawa.
“The purpose of this trip was to follow up on our April 2025 meeting, specifically to update the US administration on where APP is at in the quest for Alberta sovereignty, and to elaborate on the substantive mutual benefit to both US citizens and Alberta citizens consequent to Alberta becoming a sovereign country.
To be clear, Alberta joining the US is a non-starter for the US and for Alberta, which was mutually agreed upon for the second time. contrary to the misinformation coming from Mr. Lukaszuk and his supporters.
Follow-up meetings with the US Administration will take place once the petition process is underway, which will lead to an honest referendum on Alberta sovereignty.”

The confidential meeting, requested by U.S. counterparts to maintain diplomatic discretion, focused on economic partnerships, energy security, and the strategic benefits of an independent Alberta Republic. Officials reiterated their “full support” for Alberta’s separation from Canada, echoing the historic April statement: “We recognize and support Alberta becoming a sovereign nation for the first time.” Discussions also explored enhanced U.S.-Alberta trade frameworks, critical mineral development, and transitional support mechanisms to ensure a seamless sovereignty process, measures that align directly with APP’s vision of low taxes, resource freedom, and global alliances that prioritize Albertans.
“These talks were a resounding affirmation that Alberta’s energy wealth and innovative spirit have powerful allies in Washington,” said Mitch Sylvestre CEO of Alberta Prosperity Project. “With the federal Liberals under Mark Carney doubling down on policies that choke our economy, killing pipelines, imposing carbon taxes, and siphoning billions in equalization payments, it’s clear Confederation is a one-way street to decline. The U.S. sees Alberta not as a province in peril, but as a prosperous partner ready to stand tall. We’re one step closer to freedom, and the momentum is unstoppable.”
This visit follows a surge in separatist sentiment since the April 2025 federal election, where the Liberals’ fourth consecutive victory propelled support for independence to 38-48% in recent polls. The APP’s citizen-initiated referendum petition, submitted in July, has gathered over 200,000 signatures toward the 300,000 threshold, despite legal challenges from anti-separation forces. Premier Danielle Smith’s recent legislation easing referendum barriers has further empowered this grassroots drive, opening the door for a potential 2026 vote on sovereignty.
APP’s platform remains unwavering: an Alberta Republic with zero federal transfers, unrestricted resource development, and direct bilateral ties to the U.S. for energy exports that could add trillions to North American prosperity. As one anonymous U.S. official noted during the talks, “Alberta’s independence isn’t just good for you, it’s essential for our energy dominance.”
