In response to various claims being made in the July 22 Desmog article and on a recent Dr Steve Turely podcast the Alberta Prosperity Project feels it necessary to make things clear to the public:
“Unfortunately some in the media have recently mischaracterized the Alberta Prosperity Project’s meeting with US Administration Officials in mid April 2025.
APP produced a document which identified “The benefits of Alberta sovereignty to the USA and to Alberta citizens”. In that document, APP made some suggestions that may or may not be necessary to facilitate a smooth transition of Alberta from provincial status to country status. One of those suggestions was a potential line of credit from the USA to facilitate the transition, backed by Alberta’s natural resources.
To be clear, there was zero discussion in relation to any of the requests because the meeting was introductory in nature only, with the purpose being to determine the interest from the USA for Alberta sovereignty and whether there would be interest in further discussions.”

It is also important to note that although there have been various social media posts, etc claiming that some US officials have officially recognize Alberta as an independent nation. Until a signed official executive order (or similar) and an official public statement direct from POTUS is made, these statements carry no weight at this time.
The Alberta Prosperity Project is a non-profit group that helps Albertans learn about and support Alberta’s independence. We believe Albertans should have more control over their own decisions, instead of being held back by unfair federal rules and laws. Our main goal is to achieve greater freedom, stronger rights, and a better future for all Albertans by becoming an independent nation.
We stand for personal freedom, respect for the rule of law, lower taxes, and a stronger local economy. We believe Albertans should decide how to use their own natural resources, manage their healthcare and education, and protect their rights and freedoms without federal interference.
We educate people about the possibilities, process towards secession and more through public events, information campaigns, and partnerships with community groups. The APP does not support violence or illegal activity of any kind.
Our mission is to help Albertans understand what sovereignty and independence could look like and why it could lead to a more fair and prosperous nation for future generations.
