As the holiday season blankets Alberta in festive lights and fresh snow, families come together for the traditional Christmas turkey dinner. This special time celebrates faith, family, and freedom—values at the heart of our Alberta way of life. This Christmas, let’s use these gatherings to share an inspiring vision for Alberta’s future: a sovereign province where we control our destiny, keep more of our hard-earned wealth, and thrive independently.
The Alberta Prosperity Project (APP) continues to lead the charge in educating Albertans about the benefits of sovereignty. With our refined petition and referendum question poised for signatures possibly as early as January, we’re building unstoppable momentum toward a potential referendum in October 2026.
Two excellent videos provide gracious, effective guidance on discussing Alberta independence with friends and family. The first, a warm “fireside chat” from The Critical Compass, offers practical strategies to win hearts through positivity and patience. The second complements it perfectly with additional insights on approaching these important conversations.

Drawing from both videos, the emphasis is on grace, unity, and focusing on the hopeful future rather than past grievances. Here’s how to apply these lessons over cranberry sauce and pie:
- Lead with Positivity and Vision Avoid dwelling on federal frustrations. Instead, inspire with the exciting possibilities: lower taxes, secure borders, a booming energy industry, better-funded services, and more prosperity for all Albertans—including families and public workers. Tie it to our core values of faith, family, and freedom. At dinner: “Think about how much stronger Alberta would be if we made our own choices—more money staying here for our schools, hospitals, and future generations.”
- Use Curious Questions to Engage The Socratic method works wonders: Ask thoughtful questions that encourage others to reflect. For instance: “Why should Alberta keep sending billions east when we could invest it here?” This builds understanding without argument. At dinner: “What do you reckon we’d achieve if Alberta handled things our way?”
- Respond to Concerns Calmly Objections are natural—media narratives can be misleading. Stay composed, stick to facts, and know when to pause. Planting a seed is victory enough; hearts change over time. At dinner: If debate rises, say kindly, “I’m passionate because I care about our family’s future. Let’s savour this meal—Merry Christmas!”
- Promote Unity Among Supporters We’re in this together. Channel energy into reaching undecided folks rather than internal debates.
- Embrace the Season of Hope Christmas reminds us of new beginnings and light in darkness. Sharing Alberta sovereignty is sharing hope—for a freer, more prosperous tomorrow rooted in faith, family, and freedom.
These gentle conversations at holiday tables can spark real change. Every new supporter moves us closer to victory.
