Part 2.

If you remember our last article, It’s Your Move … Part I, we addressed the challenge: “If you don’t like being Canadian then you should move to the US”. That article explained that as Albertans, we have moral responsibilities. Morals simply mean making “good” choices and “right” decisions. As Albertans, we have to make the “right” decision to prepare the land of Alberta for our children, and for our grandchildren, and for generations to come. The resources under our feet in Alberta are for them. It is our moral responsibility to teach our loved one to use the land for their benefit.

There is a second moral problem with the demand: “move out of Alberta if you don’t want to be Canadian”.

Here’s the problem: This is not just a move to another neighborhood. This gives permission for Ontario and Quebec, who have no use for these resources, to take them and never put them to “good” use. Albertans know we have a moral responsibility to help others in the world with the resources (like oil, natural gas, coal, other minerals, and the fertile soil for agriculture) under our feet.

” … neighbor means helping those in need even if they don’t live next door” – VeggieTales

Alberta’s resources are valuable to the world. Ontario and Quebec purposely limit Alberta with the benefits we can offer humanity through our resources. We have two reasons to share our resources with the people who need them: (1) the land under our feet can serve the world for “good” purposes; and, (2) a piece of land can not be moved. It is land. Land is “stuck” to the planet. The moral ideas of people are not “stuck,” but can flip-flop with what they perceive as “right” and “wrong” all of the time. For this reason, it is easier for them to move themselves and live with people of “like mind”. The land under the feet of the Albertan can not move.
Briefly, it is a moral “good,” it is the “right” decision, to let Alberta use its land resources to benefit humans around the globe. Anyone demanding, “Albertans move to the US because they are not Canadian,” has no place in Alberta; because it is easier for them to move and live with people of “like mind”. They should move and let Albertans use the land to benefit humanity. Once again, “It’s their move …”
